Colorectal cancer is “on the rise” among young adults (<50)! The “how and when” colorectal cancer (CRC) presents is changing and current screening guidelines and education are no longer effective in preventing this disease!
With no screening guidelines, young adults are left to rely on learning their family history and “listening to their bodies”, which many times results in a later staged diagnosis, diminishing their survival rates. Our annual magazine, On The Rise (OTR), provides up to date information on signs and symptoms, family history and other precursors such as IBD (irritable bowel disease – crohn’s and ulcerative colitis), Lynch syndrome and FAP (familial adenomatous polyposis). Featuring 12 men and women, under the age of 50, diagnosed and living with CRC – these Featured Survivors bare their scars and share their journeys as they navigate obstacles such as completing college, dating, fertility issues, body image, lifelong bowel issues, ostomy, clinical trials and immunotherapy and psychological and emotional trauma. The stories, articles and education within the pages of OTR are changing how we, as a society, educate about and prevent colorectal cancer, all while providing support to young adult survivors! Pre-orders will be shipped to arrive in early March.
